About Today’s Wordle
Wordle #1958 (published October 29, 2026) gives you six guesses to find a five-letter word. Green = correct letter in the right spot, yellow = in the word but wrong spot, gray = not in the word. Today’s shape is a common one, but it hides a repeated letter that can catch you out if you assume a vowel is “used up” the first time it shows color.
Non-Spoiler Overview
If you like to guess based on vibe before digging into letter patterns, today’s word leans mechanical — think garages, workshops, or anything that hums, spins, or whirs to life when you flip a switch.
Difficulty-wise, this one rewards a strong, vowel-testing opener. If your first guess clears out most of the obvious vowel sounds, you should have a solid, narrowing clue in hand by your second or third try.
The most common slip today is assuming a vowel is done being useful once it lights up yellow or green in one spot. Wordle answers are perfectly happy to repeat a letter, and today’s answer does exactly that.

Quick Strategy Tips
When a puzzle hands you a repeated vowel, don’t assume you’re finished guessing vowels just because one already showed color. Keep testing whether that same letter could be hiding somewhere else in the word too.
If your early guesses clear out most of your vowels and leave you with a strong consonant shape, pivot toward words tied to tools, engines, or machinery — narrowing the theme can speed up your last couple of guesses considerably.
How I Solved Today’s Wordle
I started with AUDIO to map vowels. It knocked out most of the common vowel sounds I was testing, but one letter lit up yellow instead of going gray — a strong signal that it belonged in the word, just not in the spot I’d guessed.
For my second guess, I leaned into a five-letter shape that’s common in words about machinery, swapping in a very different set of consonants around that surviving vowel. The feedback came back almost entirely green, locking in four of the five letters and leaving only the very first letter still unsettled.
With that much of the word already locked in, swapping in a different opening consonant felt like the obvious next move, and it clicked into place cleanly on the next guess — a satisfying way to close out the puzzle with a guess or two to spare.
[CLICK TO REVEAL: Full Walkthrough]
I started with AUDIO to map vowels. That cleared A, U, D, and I off the board, but the O lit up yellow — in the word, just not in that final slot. Next I played ROTOR to test a common machine-part shape against a very different consonant set. The result was almost a clean sweep: the R up front came back gray, but O-T-O-R in positions two through five all lit up green. That left just one blank to fill at the front, and swapping in M for the failed R gave me MOTOR — the double-O frame fit perfectly, and the machine-shop theme made sense of the whole thing in hindsight.
