Privacy Policy

4 mins read

This Privacy Policy explains what information Beyond Tabbouleh (beyondtabbouleh.com) collects, why, and how it’s handled. This is a personal blog covering recipes, gaming, tech, and travel, published under a pseudonym.

Comments

When you leave a comment, we collect the data shown in the comment form (name, email, website, and comment text), along with your IP address and browser user agent string, to help with spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (a “hash”) may be checked against the Gravatar service to see if you’re using it. The Gravatar service’s privacy policy is available at automattic.com/privacy. After your comment is approved, your profile picture is visible to the public alongside your comment.

Cookies

If you leave a comment, you may opt in to saving your name, email address, and website in a cookie for convenience on future comments. These cookies last one year.

We use a cookie consent tool to let you choose which non-essential cookies (such as analytics) you’re comfortable with. You can change your preferences at any time using the cookie settings control on the site.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site — pages viewed, general location (country/city level), device type, and how you arrived here. This data is aggregated and doesn’t identify you personally. You can read Google’s privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy. Analytics cookies are only set if you accept them through the cookie consent tool.

Site statistics & hosting

This site uses Jetpack (by Automattic) for basic site statistics and to serve images faster through its content delivery network. Jetpack may collect anonymized usage data as described in Automattic’s privacy policy linked above. The site itself is hosted with Hostinger.

Embedded content from other websites

Posts on this site may include embedded content (for example, videos or TikTok posts). Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as if you’d visited that website directly. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Media

If you upload images to the site, avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included, as visitors can download and extract location data from images.

Who we share your data with

Comment data may be checked against Gravatar (Automattic). Analytics data (if you accept analytics cookies) is shared with Google. Site statistics are processed by Jetpack (Automattic). We don’t sell or share your data for advertising or marketing purposes.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely so we can recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically, rather than holding them in a moderation queue. For registered users (if applicable), we also store the personal information provided in their profile; users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time.

What rights you have over your data

If you’ve left comments on this site, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you’ve provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you, except data we’re obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
