About Today’s Wordle
Wordle #1968 (published November 8, 2026) gives you six guesses to find a five-letter word. Green = correct letter in the right spot, yellow = in the word but wrong spot, gray = not in the word. Today’s puzzle leans on a short, punchy structure that’s instantly recognizable once you see it, but a tight consonant cluster in the middle can slow down solvers who rely on wide-open vowel patterns.
Non-Spoiler Overview
Today’s word pops up constantly in everyday conversation — it’s one you’ve probably used more than once already today without giving it a second thought. No specialized vocabulary required here; this one lives comfortably in ordinary speech, sports commentary, and ranking contexts alike.
Precisely because it’s such a common word, solvers sometimes overthink it and chase rarer five-letter options early on. If your guesses keep landing with the right letters in slightly wrong spots, you’re probably a lot closer than it feels.
A frequent stumble is assuming a double letter is hiding somewhere, given how snugly the consonants sit together. There isn’t one today — every letter in this word is unique, so cross off any guess logic built around a repeat.

Quick Strategy Tips
When a puzzle has only one vowel, prioritize guesses that test several consonant clusters rather than spreading your early guesses across multiple vowel-heavy words. You’ll learn more per guess by varying consonants than by hunting for a second vowel that may not even exist.
If your second guess lights up a cluster of yellow tiles bunched together, resist the urge to keep those letters in the same order you guessed them. Try shifting the cluster earlier or later in the word before locking in your next attempt.
How I Solved Today’s Wordle
I started with AUDIO to map vowels. It came back almost entirely gray — only one letter earned a yellow tile, which confirmed the puzzle had just a single vowel to work with, and ruled out three of the five most common vowels right away.
For my second guess, I picked a word that doubled as a consonant stress-test, loading in a couple of letters I had a hunch about. Two tiles turned green instantly, anchoring both ends of the word, while two more lit up yellow — present, just not yet in their right homes.
With both ends locked and a cluster of consonants confirmed but shuffled, the rest of the puzzle was really just an ordering problem. One more pass to settle the middle letters and the word clicked into place immediately — fittingly, it’s a word I’d already said out loud in conversation earlier that same morning.
[CLICK TO REVEAL: Full Walkthrough]
I started with AUDIO to map vowels. That came back with only I lighting up yellow — A, U, D, and O were all grayed out, which told me I was hunting for a word with exactly one vowel, and that it wasn’t sitting in the first slot. Next I played FLIRT to stress-test a cluster of consonants I suspected might matter. That guess was a big swing: F turned green in the first position, T turned green in the last position, and both I and R lit up yellow — present in the word, just shifted inward from where FLIRT had placed them. That left F and T locked on the ends, I and R confirmed somewhere in the middle three slots, and S still unaccounted for. Reordering with I ahead of R and tucking S in just before the final T gave FIRST — and the frame fit cleanly: F-I-R-S-T, no repeats, one vowel, solved in three.
