About Today’s Wordle
Wordle #1954 (published October 25, 2026) gives you six guesses to find a five-letter word. Green = correct letter in the right spot, yellow = in the word but wrong spot, gray = not in the word. Today’s word is an everyday one that most solvers will recognize instantly once a letter or two lands, but the shape of it can still eat a guess or two if you’re not paying attention to how the ending is built.
Non-Spoiler Overview
Today’s word lives in the world of clothing and getting ready — the kind of word that shows up just as naturally in a fashion magazine as it does in a casual conversation about weekend plans. It can wear more than one hat grammatically, which is worth keeping in mind as you read any hint text closely.
Difficulty-wise, this is a solid middle-of-the-road puzzle. It isn’t loaded with rare letters, but it does have a structural quirk near the end that can make your guess distribution look a little unusual on the results screen, even if you solve it in three or four tries.
The most common mistake today is assuming the word has more going on vocally than it actually does. Solvers who lock in two or three different vowel guesses early tend to burn turns they didn’t need to, when the real key is nailing the consonant pattern instead.

Quick Strategy Tips
When your opener comes back with only one real vowel confirmed and everything else gray, resist the urge to test a second or third vowel combination. Pivot straight into consonant-heavy guesses instead — you’ll learn far more about the actual shape of the word that way.
If you get a yellow letter near the end of the word, don’t assume it belongs in the very last slot. Today’s puzzle is a good reminder to try shifting a confirmed letter one position over before locking in a guess, especially when a double letter might be involved.
How I Solved Today’s Wordle
I started with AUDIO to map vowels. It came back almost entirely gray — no A, no U, no I, and no O anywhere in the word — with just a single yellow popping up on the D. That told me the word’s one vowel wasn’t going to be one of the usual four I’d just ruled out, and that D belonged somewhere, just not where I’d placed it.
For my second guess I leaned into that D and tried a word that tested it in the opening slot alongside a couple of fresh consonants. That guess came back with two greens locked in place and one more letter flagged as present but misplaced, which narrowed things down a lot faster than I expected.
By my third guess, I had enough of the skeleton in place that the final letter felt almost inevitable once I slotted the last loose consonant into the one open position left. It came together cleanly from there, with the ending clicking into focus right as I typed it out.
[CLICK TO REVEAL: Full Walkthrough]
I started with AUDIO to map vowels. That came back with A, U, I, and O all gray, and a lone yellow D sitting in the third slot — so I knew D was in the word, just not in that position, and that my vowel search wasn’t over since none of AUDIO’s vowels had landed. Next I played DOUSE to test D in the lead position and see what else might shake loose. DOUSE lit up green on the D (first letter, confirmed) and green on the S in the fourth slot, with a yellow E telling me there was an E in there somewhere other than the last letter. That gave me D _ _ S _ with an E floating around positions two or three. For my third guess I tried DOERS, swapping in an R and reshuffling the E. DOERS came back green on D, green on E (locking the E into the third slot), yellow on R, and green on S again — which meant the only open slot left was the second letter, and R was clearly it. That left D-R-E-S-_ with one more letter needed to close it out, and given the double-letter hint I’d already clocked, DRESS was the obvious finish. I typed it in and watched all five tiles turn green at once.
